perl - Practical Extraction and Report Language Perl is a language optimized for scanning arbitrary text files, extracting information from those text files, and printing reports based on that information. It's also a good language for many system management tasks. The language is intended to be practical (easy to use, efficient, complete) rather than beautiful (tiny, elegant, minimal). Some of the modules available on CPAN can be found in the "perl" series. Attention: due to security reasons we disabled the suid bit of /usr/bin/suidperl. If you need this feature, please add the following line to /etc/permissions.local and run SuSEconfig. /usr/bin/suidperl root.root 4755 Authors: -------- Larry Wall, Louis J.
